The UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen weigh-ins took place Friday afternoon at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., setting the stage for Saturday's showdown between Ultimate Fighter 17 coaches Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen. Despite some people questioning whether or not Sonnen deserves a shot at Jones’ UFC light heavyweight championship, it’s a moot point now, as both Jones and Sonnen made weight, making their title fight official. Neither had trouble making weight, each man stepping on the scale at 205 pounds. Where they differed was in their post-weigh-in comments. Sonnen, as always, took the opportunity to wax poetic from his self-promotional soapbox.

Nick Catone, who faces James Head on the Facebook preliminary bout portion of the fight card, tipped the scale at 173 pounds. He did not attempt to come down any further. The fight will still take place, but Catone was fined 20-percent of his fight purse.
