The event will mark the promotion's fourth event of the month, though just its first pay-per-view, and will feature a light heavyweight title tilt between challenger Chael Sonnen and champion Jon Jones.
Beyond the improbable main event that has both confounded and intrigued the masses, the card will play host to an 11 additional matches, spanning the main card, FX and Facebook.
From top to bottom, the card is very solid. There looks to be several competitive pairings and several more with the potential for fireworks. When it's all said and done, UFC 159 should prove an excellent way to cap off an incredible month of UFC activity.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has been getting along with fellow coach Chael Sonnen just swimmingly on the combat sports reality show, which airs every Wednesday night on the FX Channel (see last week's recap here)Then came Sonnen's poem to "Bones" (watch it here) poking fun of the champ's recent run-in with the law (details on that here), as well as his "boring" fights against Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans and Stephan Bonnar, among others.
That didn't sit well with Jones, who took to his official Twitter account last night to let "The American Gangster" know he plans to fight fire with fire.
You're using your TV platform to clown me, it's all good because I'm going to use my TV platform to clown you. There will be no more lines to remember come April 27th.
Jones will put his 205-pound title on the line against Sonnen as part of the UFC 159 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which goes down April 27, 2013 from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey (see the new video preview here).
Despite coming off a high-profile loss to Anderson Silva last July, Sonnen was able to talk his way into a fight against Jones, but then failed to deliver the kind of verbal fireworks fans were expecting on TUF 17. Now that filming has wrapped, however, that strategy seems to be out the window.

Sonnen was suspended for one calendar year after testing positive for
elevated testosterone levels after his fight against Anderson Silva in
August 2010.
The suspension was immediately appealed by Sonnen, who claimed he had been approved to be on TRT by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The story was immediately shot down by Executive Director Keith Kizer, who confirmed Sonnen had never been approved to use TRT.
Nearly two years later in May 2012, Sonnen was finally granted a therapeutic use exemption for TRT from the Nevada commission. During an interview with the LA Times (via Fightersonlymag.com), Sonnen stated that his life depended on TRT:
"I don't have an option. I either take this medicine or die. I'm not asking if I can take it. It's up to them to let me take it. It's a substance that's often abused, and I deal with taking it in shame. But a blood test can clear you, and show I take the appropriate amount."
Jones hasn't shied away from his personal disdain for TRT usage in MMA. During the UFC 151 media call, he criticized MMA legend Dan Henderson, another TRT user, for utilizing a drug that "gives a person in their 40s the strength of a 30-year-old again."
Jones is slated to defend his UFC title against Sonnen on April 27 at UFC 159. For the most part, he has remained relatively quiet leading up to the fight. As usual, Sonnen has gone above and beyond to hype the fight, including updating his own personal countdown on Twitter.
If Sonnen's aim was to get under Jones' skin, it looks like he may have succeeded. He did the same in the time leading up to both bouts against Silva, but things didn't turn out so well for the self-proclaimed "Oregon Gangster."
